With its 210 kilometers of skiable area and 128 slopes catering for all levels, Grandvalira is the largest ski resort of the Pyrenees and across Southern Europe. The skiable area is over 1,900 hectares, sized to transport over 100,000 skiers per hour to its 19 green, 49 blue, 42 red and 18 black slopes. Grandvalira offers night time skiing at the foot of the slopes at Pas de la Casa, where the ski slope is illuminated Thursdays and Saturdays from 5-9pm.
Grandvalira is located in the north of the Principality of Andorra, next to the border with France. The area covered by the resort is part of two of the parishes in Andorra (Encamp and Canillo), and is made up of six sectors that joined together to make one territory 14 years ago: Pas de la Casa, Grau Roig, Soldeu, El Tarter, Canillo and Encamp.
Regular international competitions taking place in Grandvalira are the Alpine Skiing European Cup Finals, Total Fight Masters of Freestyle, the Flying Kilometer World Cup, World Cup Women Alpine Skiing organized by the FIS Ski World Cup Racing.
Grandvalira offers a wide range of activities for families with children, like Mont Magic in Canillo, which includes one of the longest children's theme slope in Europe, Imaginarium Circuits and Park with a route of snowmobiles, zip lines, snow tubbing lanes, jumps and lots of other surprises.
For Freestyle lovers, Grandvalira offers three exciting snowparks with various zones suitable for all levels, from beginners to experts, even in night time. If you want to venture into freestyle, the monitors at the Grandvalira school can offer you the chance to have a go at this sport and do your first tricks in total safety.
Furthermore, the domain also offers a wide range of restaurants across the entire area, allowing visitors to choose anything from an open-air terrace with panoramic views of the Andorran Pyrenees to the warmth of a cozy fireplace in a traditional mountain hut. The Igloo Hotel special venue for incentive groups is located at almost 2,400 m above sea level in the Grau Roig area. The hotel is made 100% from snow and has a bar, a terrace, a restaurant offering a delicatessen menu, a spa area and rooms. Each igloo/room is approx. 20m2 and has everything you will need to enjoy an enchanting night. Vallnord is the umbrella brand for two ski areas in the north of Andorra: Vallnord - Pal Arinsal and Vallnord - Ordino Arcalís. Together, they sum up 93 km of skiable terrain and more than 700,000 skier visits throughout the winter season.
One of the main aims of Vallnord over the last few years has been to preserve the particular personality and features of each resort, creating a broader, more complete concept of a snow resort.
Vallnord - Pal Arinsal is located at La Massana. It has 63 kilometres of skiable terrain and direct access to the foot of the slopes, thanks to an aerial tram from La Massana, and a funicular and chairlift from Arinsal. This resort has a famous freestyle area, as well as child-adapted facilities, and it is the hub of multiple complementary activities to skiing. This resort stands out for the smooth forms of its mountains and the wooded landscape of its surrounding area.
During the 2017-2018 season, Vallnord celebrates the resort’s 35th anniversary.
Arinsal gathers ski and music fans - music with DJs on the slopes, plus a great Après Ski scene not to be missed.
The Arinsal sector has one of the most famous areas for freestyle ski in Southern Europe. The Snowpark is made up of three areas to accommodate the different user levels, and includes modules and jumps adapted to the needs of each type of user. The expert area has become the snowpark’s most highly regarded zone, and internationally renowned riders can often be seen there, training for their competitions.
Pal is a sector where the services and trails are designed to ensure fun for the whole family. A magic mountain, large snowy forests and incredible views will delight everyone. There are areas designed exclusively for children, the Babyclub and Pekepack and special areas for family skiing.
Vallnord – Pal Arinsal host many famous events such as the Font Blanca Mountain Skiing World Cup, which is a great opportunity to see some of the best skiers on a World Cup circuit. The resort has six ski mountaineering circuits, five are located in the Pal sector and the sixth is in Arinsal. The routes have different lengths, slopes and levels of difficulty, allowing skiers to improve their skills continuously.
At Vallnord – Par Arinsal we organize for companies and incentive groups a wide range of experiences adapted to every type of gathering. These include snow scooters, guided mountain skiing and snowshoe excursions, outings in snow groomers and other snow activities including sledding, tubing and snow snake sledding, among others.
Vallnord - Pal Arinsal has 18 different traditional restaurants and eateries, offering a wide variety of places and dishes, which you can even reach at night by snow groomer.
The Vallnord – Pal Arinsal facilities are open ten months of the year. This means that in addition to the winter activity, the resort offers users the option of mountain bike descents in the summertime at the Vallnord Bike Park La Massana, a benchmark park in Southern Europe, as well as family adventure activities such as the rope adventure park, motorized outings, go-karting and ziplines, among others. Thanks to its complete mountain biking supply, Vallnord – Pal Arinsal has become the headquarters for the BTT World Cup and was the chosen backdrop for the Masters and Elite Mountain Bike World Championships in XCO, DHI, XCE, Trial and Team Relay.
The annual Bike & Ski pass is a star product of Vallnord, which you can purchase through Eventhalia. Covering both the summer and the winter seasons, its competitive price makes it one of the resort’s most popular products.
Established in 1983 thanks to its northerly orientation which means that the resort can open early and have a longer season. The Arcalis resort offers 442 hectares of ski area with 30 km of slopes. The difference in altitude at Arcalis ranges from 1,940 m to 2,650 m and visitors can enter the resort at two different points. The driving force of the resort is undoubtedly its winter season organizing a large number of events and competitions, both national and international. The most outstanding are the Freeride World Tour, the Ski Mountaineering World Cup, the SBX European Cup, the Borrufa Trophy and FIS downhill ski trials.
Vallnord - Arcalis is the perfect setting for all kinds activities, from classic snowmobile excursions to more extreme experiences such as speedriding or heliskiing. Clients can learn how to drive a snowmobile or take a ride on the GicaFer, a Caterpillar vehicle that provides themed and guided tours combined with high altitude dinners. Speedriding is a combination of skiing and paragliding and courses and flights are offered in tandem. Heliskiing is the utmost in freeriding. A helicopter takes clients up to the summit so they can ski back down on pure virgin snow, accompanied by expert guides.
The Arcalis resort offers different ways to enjoy the area, discovering its more unfamiliar spots and wonderful night-time experiences, such as spending the night in the heart of nature, enveloped in the luxury of an American Airstream trailer at 2,200 m.

At Vallnord – Arcalis there is the Ford Logic Drive Arcalís snow-driving circuit, with the support of Ford, which is located permanently at the entrance to the resort, in a spacious area devoted exclusively to this activity, where clients can benefit from a wide range of snow-driving courses. It can also be used for corporate incentive activities and for official presentations of new vehicle models.
Vallnord - Arcalís offers a very wide range of food and drink. At 2,552 m above sea level there is a menu with traditional specialties from the Pyrenees: high quality traditional cooking combined with the incredible scenery that surrounds this remarkable mountain refuge. At 2,220 m clients can diner after an evening’s excursion in a Giant Sledge with specialties such as fondues and delicious steaks.
The Vallnord Freebus facilitates mobility between Vallnord’s two resorts and guarantees the connectivity of the resorts with the heart of the country. This bus service, which is completely free of charge, connects Vallnord – Pal Arinsal with Vallnord –Arcalis, as well as connects these resorts with the capital city of the Principality of Andorra.
